1. Next meeting: Friday, 6/9 @ 8am 2. Old Business: - Shiva LANRover problems/update. LanRover 2 will not boot up at all. Bob and Justin will call Shiva. - Network ADD for Juliana Degone/Mark Stoddard, Mental Health/Van Housen. (See proposal 5/26/95). Carm will coordinate this project and will contact Dave when the wiring is completed so that the NIC and software can be installed. - x4000. Brenda is entering these recordings into an Excel spreadsheet. She will present a report on what we have to date at our next NST meeting. - Updating our Chipcom EMM management modules. Carm will talk to Chipcom when they visit our campus (soon) about the management module update. - Wiring the "dorms" project. Justin shared a document from Hamilton College which addresses their student network services project (wiring student rooms for service). He will send a copy to Dave, Carm and Garnet (could we post this in our NST "wiring project" page?) - Site visit w/ Cabletron (Thursday 6/1). Joe Garbus (SUNY Potsdam alumni '86) will visit us for a site survey. - Power outage on Sat/Sun 6/3-6/4. (See 5/16 NST minutes.) After considerable discussion, we settled on the following plan of action: 1. Brenda will prepare a broadcast voice-mail message to be sent on Thursday 6/1 and Friday 6/2. (Click here for content of message.) 2. Bob will send a message to the brown-bag techology sharing session announcement list. (Click here for content of message.) 3. Dave will take our Unix hosts down at 10pm on Saturday, 6/3. 4. We will leave our SEED router and our LanRover 1 ON. 5. Brenda will update our Network HOTLINE (x2884) to indicate that network services will go "down" at 10pm, Saturday, 6/3 and will not be back "up" until 8am, Monday, 6/5/95. 6. Tony DiTullio will notify Bob when power is restored. He will check the network and call Dave to bring our Unix-based services back up. He will call Justin and/or Carm only if there are problems with our network services after power is restored. 7. Justin will make sure Rob Best is available to help on Monday with any network-related problems due to the power outage. 8. Bob/Justin/Brenda can be contacted in Syracuse (STC Conference - Sheraton Inn, Liverpool) by calling 457-1122.<- PHONE! - Checking phones in the residence halls. Carm has prepared a spreadsheet report for Residence Life that outlines the repairs and replaced equipment for Bowman, Draime and Van Housen. Could we post this information to our www? Justin/Carm--let me know, ok? (jewettrj) 3. New Business: - coverage set up for upcoming STC conference (Bob, Justin, Brenda, Karen, will be away) - SUNYNet weekend coverage. (Bob) [tabled] - backup for Dave Brouwer's responsibilities [tabled] - Flagg Classroom update. (Dave) [tabled] - 2Gb drive for News server. News failure over the weekend (5/27 - 5/28) and status report on 2Gb drive. (Dave) [tabled] - Important goals for 95-96: (Bob) [tabled] * IMAP email server before 9/1/95 (need to do IMAP testing this summer) * Moving VMS email users to our Unix mail server. * 28.8 modems for LanRovers. - Voice services.
