1. Status Reports:

a. Any Network Services projects pending/waiting? - Diversity Office/Bookstore moves in the Union (Ellen Smith): Ellen asked to have two (2) phones installed; 1 in the front of the new convienence store and 1 in the back Joe Sarnoff will identify where the faceplates to be added and removed in the Union lobby. Griffin will be pulling cable for their cash registers. Carm and Garnet asked that conduit be installed so telephone lines can be pulled to the cash register areas as well. We will need to pull out all existing cable and lines in the new convienence store area. Service to the bookstore offices could be disrupted if the cabling above the existing Diversity offices is pulled out. Timetable: Diversity offices will move by 5/20/96 Asbestos abatement begins 6/1/96 Construction on the new convienence store begins 7/1/96 Move into convienence store 8/20/96 (but probably later) Move out of existing bookstore 10/1/96 to area C of the MPR Move back into the bookstore (newly renovated) by 11/20/96 b. Shiva LANRover status - Winsock fix status: No problems since this fix c. Wiring the Residence Halls project status report: - materials for the project will be delivered to Receiving next Thursday (5/16/96) d. Unix hosts - changeover status/working with Russ Nelson (see 3/18 notes from meeting with Russ) Dave reports that beta-testing of Qmail will begin soon. e. Downstream access to the Internet for Potsdam Central. (PCS) - DEC's wireless bridge connection: we will test as soon as we can. - NSF grant (fiber to PCS): working on grant proposal to be submitted by 5/15/96. f. Ventilating the switch room (Carm) - $5-6K for an air-conditioner; could also install a fan with a thermostatic control. Bob will talk to Peter Brouwer about the propriety of spending $6K on A/C for this room. g. Old phones inventory submitted for surplusing? (see 5/2 minutes) - not submitted yet.

2. New items:

a. Evaluate Network Services Team: Should we continue as-is or change? b. Associated Colleges Conference - Spring '97. Keep this in mind. c. PACES wants us to consult with them on wiring vending machines in Satterlee (across from the Dean's office), Crane, Carson and Maxcy. Carm will talk with Dan Hayes about this. d. Look at backup items below. We will meet on 5/14 to discuss this. e. Around the table: Carm - Bowman fire was in a study room, not our wiring closet. Garnet - need to get the library's film room moved to the storage room so we can finish implementing our security plan. Brenda - McGraw-Hill rep wants email addresses for everyone on campus. We will not provide this.
