Status Reports:

- Any Network Services projects pending/waiting? * wiring the President's house for data > NO change in status yet; still not ready for install. * Duplicating move to Merritt 131 > This move will take place in January '96 * Sen. Sears - moving to ISD offices > Carm thinks that the wall between the ISD/C&GE may have > lots of network cabling in them. - Shiva LANRover status * How have the dial-in servers been doing? > Still getting occassional freezes. Garnet will place a > clipboard near the servers so that we can record resets > whenever we do them in order to ascertain whether things > are improving, degrading, or remaining the same. - Wiring the "dorms" project. (Bob) * Loan application status * State contract - NYSERNet Gateway Pilot project cutover on 12/13/95 > The library reported performance problems just after the cut- > over, but have not responded to our calls about this. That may > have been a fluke. No other problems noted. > Justin believes that this cutover means we can now offer > "downstream" access to the Internet to schools, etc. He will > need to confirm this w/ Ted Phelps. - Kellas Hall Server (SE/30) (Justin) Being moved? - Switching hub (Carm/Justin) * Skyline status (see 11/8 minutes) > No progress on this. Bob will assume the lead on this. * Have we established a baseline of traffic/errors on our net? > Carm has been collecting data on our Chipcom hubs - Network Control Room * Tables > no rush right now. * 2Gb drive for Unix servers. (Dave) > No progress on this yet. - Network bridge "programming" Done? (Carm) > No progress on this yet.

2. New items:

- Holiday vacations (check on coverage/projects/priorities) * Erik working over the holidays? (Why isn't he requesting pay?) > Dave has repeatedly reminded Erik to submit a pay request. * CHAT > Not a priority item, but it is a service that we will need > to support in the not-too-distant future. - After-hours/weekends/holiday-coverage/responsiveness for the following network services: * Dial-in (Shiva) * Web server (www.potsdam.edu) * Web server (www2.potsdam.edu) * Web server (www3.potsdam.edu) * Email server (mail.potsdam.edu) * Bootp server * News server * Wellfleet router * Telephone switch * Voice-Mail server (student) * Voice-Mail server (admin) > We reviewed our backup plan and felt we were okay for the > upcoming holidays. - Around the table: > Joe Sarnoff has requested us to put WAIH (the local campus radio > station) as the background for our InfoChannel. Carm will look > into providing a direct audio feed to our InfoChannel from the > radio station.

3. Planning/Development

- Voice services plan. (Bob/Brenda) - To be investigated/developed over 95-96: * IMAP email server * Moving VMS email users to our Unix mail server. * 28.8 modems for LanRovers. - Our roles for network problems and how/when to alert campus of problems with network services: * backup role for Justin's role and David's role. * Brenda's role as information clearinghouse and her backup.
