Dave will check with Keith on where this project stands. - 2400 baud modems. No reported problems. No problems found. Done! - TCP/IP Optimization. Bob, Justin, Dave will meet after the team meeting (NOTE: minutes from that meeting will follow). - Summer projects. Nothing else new noted. Dave pointed out that he has requested Erik for the summer. - Lapsing Funds requests. Nothing else new was requested. Carm's request was submitted via email last week. - Pagers. Brenda will order 3 pagers for Bob, Brenda and Dave. - Anixter Site Survey. Carm didn't get to this last week. He will check with Doug this week. 2. New Business: - Carm is on jury duty for the next 2 weeks (3/27 - 4/7). Our Cabltron Site Survey will have to be re-scheduled for Friday, April 14. - Network Services WWW page. Bob reported on the WWW page that Justin set up and suggested that we post all of our minutes, documentation and any other pertinent information needed by the team on this page (or links from it). He will ask Paula to post the information as it becomes available. The URL for this page is http://www.potsdam.edu/nst.html (NOTE: This address will soon change, but a link to it will be found on the URL given) - AppleTalk Zone Project. Bob brought up a suggestion from Erik Denny. To solve our AppleTalk zone problem we should isolate areas of the campus from each other to see which areas contain the faulty zones, then focus on those areas for the culprit. We will first take down the bridge between the 2 hubs, then go from there. Dave, Carm, Garnet, Justin and Bob will be involved. Bob will schedule the date. (NOTE: Scheduled for tonight 3/23 from 5pm - 7pm) 3. What's Important to accomplish by next week? - Work on the LANRovers after AppleTalk zone project. (Bob/Justin) - AppleTalk Zone Project (Carm/Garnet/Dave/Bob/Justin) - Meet on TCP/IP hosts/services (Bob/Justin/Dave) - Update Network Services HOTLINE documentation. 4. Continuation of discussion on alerting campus of problems with network services: - Discussed Justin's role and the process to follow for network problems. When there is a problem with the network that is *not* routinely handled (routine network problems include email queues, termination on an ethernet cable, etc.), then we will use the following process: 1. Justin will be notified (by pager if necessary). 2. Justin will narrow down what the problem might be and determine if it is indeed a problem. 3. If there is a problem, Justin will contact Brenda and give her the best information he can at that point and what the consequences of the problem might mean for users. He will then contact those team members needed to resolve the problem. 4. Once the problem has been resolved, Justin will send email to all team members *and Paula* with the following information: - time problem reported and fixed - nature of the problem - what was done to solve the problem - who fixed the problem - suggestions on how to avoid similar problems in the future 5. Paula will post the email message on the Network Services Team (NST) WWW page so it will be available for the departmental information (internal use only). * Justin will talk to Rob Best about developing a WWW form that would allow us to fill in the information (#4 above) in a standard way and be automatically posted to our NST WWW page. * Justin will password protect our NST WWW page. 6. Next meeting Weds, 3/22 @ 8:00am AGENDA items: - backup role for Justin's role as coordinator for network service problems - how to program (record messages) for the HOTLINE (x2884)
