Attending: Bob, Brenda, Carm, Dave, Garnet, Justin

1. Old Business:

- Bob ordered 2 Asante ethernet cards for the "Satellite" background network monitoring software to be installed on Garnet's and Paula's Macs.

- Bob and Dave met with Geri Linkins and Keith Compeau re: connecting the CD-ROM LAN to the campus network. Keith will purchase additional memory for the CD server, then contact Bob and Dave when he is ready to connect to the campus network. Keith and Geri will also supply Bob with a list of "customers" for the CD-ROM LAN. We will determine how each customer will access this service when they are identified.

- Bob provided a list of URLs for WWW sites that provide good technical information on network services. Justin will put a special homepage for the Network Services Team on the Potsdam WWW server and include links to the sites Bob has discovered.

NOTE: the URL for this is: http://www.potsdam.edu/nst.html

- Bob, Justin, Carm and Garnet gave a brief description of Skyline, the network monitoring software that uses the "Satellite" software referred to above. This product will allow us to keep historical data on the network (load, % of protocol activity, etc.)

2. New Business:

- Claude Adair is now with Chipcom (was with DEC).

- ACUTA may have copies of RFPs on wiring dorms available. Brenda will check on this.

3. What's Important to accomplish by next week?

- PACES move to Merritt Hall. Dave will check with Jerry Stacey ASAP to seeif they need assistance with the move of the PCs and reconnection to the campus network.

- testing the repaired LANRover that was recently "repaired". (Note: we've had continual problems with both LANRovers since this meeting and Shiva will be getting back to us RSN about a plan of action to fix this problem.)

4. Continuation of discussion on alerting campus of problems with network services:

Bob suggested that we each take on a particular network services area that we are concerned about and present that to the whole team. The following areas were assigned with the task for the next week to identify the most important service failure(s) that we should alert others of. We need to identify what service failure(s), who to notify, and how to notify them.

o Brenda - Voice services

o Justin/Dave - E-mail - TCP/IP services (NetNews, gopher, www, DNS, BOOTP) - Remote Access to the campus network

o Carm/Garnet - Video - Infrastructure (cable plant, FOTs, repeaters, Hubs, etc.)

o Bob - SUNYNet

5. Bob was asked to check into drafting a Campus Network Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) to address the team's concersn about who can do what on our network. Brenda will provide information (Faculty Handbook) on our campus telephone AUP and consider what other concerns should be address (for example, off-campus telephone companies accessing our telecommunications network)
