NEW YEAR'S DAY, Wednesday, January 1, 1997
 
       The College will be officially closed and only essential public safety
       and physical plant operations will be maintained.
 
 
DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY, Monday, January 20, 1997
 
       No classes scheduled. Most administrative offices closed. Staffing should
       be limited to providing essential services.
 
LINCOLN'S BIRTHDAY, Wednesday, February 12, 1997
 
       Classes in session. Normal operations. Lincoln's Birthday has been 
       designated as a floating holiday for employees in the CSEA, PEF, UUP 
       bargaining units and for Managerial/Confidential employees.  Employees 
       in the above units must use the floating holiday within one year for a
       full day absence. 
 
WASHINGTON'S BIRTHDAY, Monday, February 17, 1997
 
       Classes will be in session. Some administrative offices closed. Staffing
       should be limited to providing essential services.
 
MEMORIAL DAY, Monday, May 26, 1997
 
       No classes scheduled. The College will be officially closed. Staffing 
       should be limited to providing essential services.
 
INDEPENDENCE DAY, Friday, July 4, 1997
 
       No classes scheduled. The College will be officially closed and only 
       essential public safety and physical plant operations will be maintained.
 
LABOR DAY, Monday, September 1, 1997
 
       Classes will be in session. Offices will be open. Staffing should be
       limited to providing essential services.
 
COLUMBUS DAY, Monday, October 13, 1997
 
       No classes scheduled. Staffing should be limited to providing essential
       services.
 
ELECTION DAY, Tuesday, November 4, 1997
 
       Classes will be in session. Normal operations. Election Day has been
       designated as a floating holiday for employees in CSEA, PEF, and M/C
       bargaining units and for UUP employees with college year or calendar
       year obligations. The day after Thanksgiving is the designated floating
       holiday for these UUP employees.  Other employees must use the floating
       holiday within one year for a full day absence.
 
VETERANS' DAY, Monday, November 11, 1997
 
       Classes will be in session. Some administrative offices closed. Staffing
       should be limited to providing essential services.
 
THANKSGIVING DAY, Thursday, November 27, 1997
 
       The College will be officially closed and only essential public safety
       and physical plant operations will be maintained. 
 
       The College requests that supervisors provide a liberal leave policy for
       employees on Friday, November 28,1997. The names of employees not choosing
       leave on November 28, 1997, must be submitted to Human Resources by the
       close of business on Friday, November 21, 1997. Human Resources will notify
       such employees of their alternative work location for this day.
 
CHRISTMAS DAY, Thursday, December 25, 1997
 
       The College will be officially closed and only essential public safety and
       physical plant operations will be maintained.
