Dear Alumni,

Greetings to SUNY Potsdam Lacrosse Alumni. The year 2000 was very good to us as we finished with a 10-6 record and another trip to the ECAC tournament. We had some big wins, which included Oneonta, Alfred, Colby, Geneseo and both archrivals SLU and Clarkson. We are very excited about the upcoming season, as we should have a team that can compete for the SUNYAC Championship. This yearsí conference champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament and your Bears will be working hard to attain that goal.

I also wanted to inform you that plans for the artificial field are complete and work is scheduled to begin in May. As you know, this field has been a long time coming and we are very excited that it is finally becoming a reality. Also, please mark your calendars for an alumni game, scheduled for Saturday, July 14 to coincide with alumni weekend. It would be very helpful if you could give a quick call to the lacrosse office, or send me an e-mail at berkmarw@potsdam.edu to let us know if you would be interested in attending such a great weekend.

As you may have heard, this year SUNY Potsdam will soon be embarking on a capital campaign. $500,000 of this campaign has been designated to support SUNY Potsdam Athletics. $250,000 will be used to enhance and upgrade Maxcy Hall, which will include honoring former coach and athletic director, Jerry Welsh with the naming of the gymnasium. The remaining $250,000 will be raised for a travel and recruitment endowment fund for all teams. This will not only benefit our lacrosse program, but the entire Potsdam athletic program will grow and become more competitive. We hope you will consider making a gift over and above your annual gift to our team, to help us accomplish our campaign goals. You could even pledge a gift to athletics now and spread the payments over the next five years. And, for gifts or pledges of $500 or more, your name will be placed on a special plaque in Maxcy Hall, and you would be eligible to receive a complimentary pass to play in our "Presidentís Cup" Donor Appreciation Golf Tournament in Massena on Friday, July 13 during reunion weekend! Many athletic alumni games will be taking place on July 14 of that weekend as well.

If you would like to make a gift, you can do so directly via our online giving form https://www.safepage.com/potsdam. A current student will be calling you soon to ask you about a gift. We thank you in advance for your continued support and we hope to see you this summer.

Sincerely,

Rick Berkman Jim Zalacca
Coach Athletic Director
