Potsdam Classic Information

A Four Game Guarantee
Each team is guaranteed four games. Boys and girls divisions will be run in the following age groups: 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17. In addition, A & B levels in each age division will be established to allow teams of similar caliber to compete against each other. We will attempt to form A & B pools of five teams for each age group. If possible each team will play all the respective teams in their pool. Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis as the entry fees arrive. Scheduling information will be sent out after the respective deadline. Players’ ages as of January 1, 2003, should be used as a guideline for entries. Please fill out one entry form for each team entered and enter your
team in its appropriate level of competition.

International Competition
Invitations are being sent to various Northeastern states in the U.S. and to the Ontario and Québec provinces of Canada. It is our expectation to have several Canadian teams in each age group.

Clinics with College Coaches
Players, coaches and parents will be able to attend free basketball clinic speeches during the weekend. Local college coaches will give instruction on skill development and also valuable information on the college recruiting process for the high school students.

Some past topics include:

• the inside-outside game of offensive basketball;

• the recruiting process in Division I, II and III;

• fundamental offensive and defensive moves in the NBA;

• using the pick and roll and individual skills;

• individual skill routines to make yourself a better player.

Facilities
COACH:
“We’ve been coming for four years and will be back for a fifth. From the start, you have done things the right way and I have seen only improvement, even as your teams increased. We really liked the mini-clinics.”
Games will be played at Maxcy Hall on the campus of SUNY Postdam and at the athletic and physical education complex on the campus of Clarkson University. Maxcy Hall boasts three courts in the main gymnasium and two in the field house. Clarkson will host games in the main gymnasium and in the field house. These facilities are within a two mile distance from each other. Swimming will be available in the pool at Maxcy Hall.

Awards
Championship shirts will be provided by Anaconda® and will be awarded to all players on the first place team in each pool. Each champion head coach also will receive an official “Hoops Classic” polo shirt.
PARENT:
“The nicest thing about coming to your tournament are the facilities. Everything is right there, it’s clean, and you don’t have to drive all over to get to a restaurant or your game site. It’s affordable, too – we’ll be back.”
