French Literature: 20th century

a guide to library resources

BearCat: the library catalog: to find books, pamphlets, etc. in the main library collection.

Search by Author for books by a particular author. A Title search looks for word(s) found anywhere in the book titles. A Keyword search is the broadest search.

Subject keywords to look for in the catalog include: individual writers' names, literary movements, forms, or historical periods. Finding recent articles on literature:

• The MLA Bibliography (on the library's web site). The most comprehensive index to articles, books, and dissertations on language, literature, and folklore. This is an index only, no full-text online; but it links to online content if it is available.
• Academic Search Premier. (on the library's web site). An index to a wide array of popular and scholarly journals, some having their articles available online.
• Project MUSE. (on the library's web site) Full-text of recent years of 178 journals in many fields, but concentrated in the humanities.
• JSTOR. (on the library's web site) Complete back runs of significant journals in many fields, including literature.
• Literature Resource Center. (on the library's web site) This provides selected biographical and critical information on authors and literary topics.
• The Year's Work in Modern Language Studies (Ref PB 1.Y45). An annual evaluation of the research in modern languages and literature. (1930-2003)
• Humanities Index (In paper to 1998 at Ref AI 3 .H8). An index, with abstracts, of journals in the humanities.
