President's 5-year Report to the Faculty, Students and Staff

                Major Goals/Priorities Review


1. Program Development:
Reviewed "..our programs and engaged in both internal and external 
environmental scanning (quality, student demand, centrality to mission and 
cost). (pg. 2)

2. Investment in human capital:
Send employees to conferences, provide the T&L Fair, bring in consultants. 
Prioritize excellence in teaching, innovative teaching methods, and made 
enhancements in our classroom modernization program. (pg. 2)

3. Investment in Technology:
Proud of providing desktop computers to all faculty who request them; 
recognition of our campus network; library OPAC.  Sees SUNY now prioritizing 
educational technology, distance learning ("telecommunicative learning") and 
increased administrative productivity. (pg. 2)

4.  Diversity and Multicultural
Offer programs/opportunities that enrich our campus and our community (e.g.,
Arts exhibits, Drama/Dance and musical productions.  Improve campus climate 
for women and people of color.

5.  Soliciting support and resources
Need to obtain financial support and resources beyond State budget.  Develop
alumni support for programs.

6.  Significant planning
Middle States Self Study, SUNY 2000 Phase II document, campus Master Plan.  
"During the past two years we have developed specially targeted planning 
initiatives for computing, marketing and retention." (pg. 3)

7.  Public outreach efforts
Bringing and serving visitors to the campus; 
voluntary community service by students and staff

RSI - provided technical and logistical support for local governments, economic development groups, Social Service Agencies, health care providers 
and arts community

To be part of the community, to improve the quality of life in Northern New 
York.

8.  Student-Centered campus
Continue to work on the theme that students are the reason for our existence.  
We are a service-oriented educational institution.   "...we have tried to 
assess needs and change how we deliver essential services.  Our College places 
its students first, taking care to guide them as they strive to reach their 
full potential in life." (pg. 3)
