Statistical Analysis The main campus computer has traditionally been used to support statistical analysis (primarily SPSS-X(TM)) because of its capacity to store and process large data sets. With the emergence of powerful microprocessors and larger storage devices for personal computers, it is now possible to explore the use of large data sets with statistical packages on personal computers.

Goals:

To obtain statistical analysis software which will meet the instructional, research and reporting needs of the campus and will execute across all campus computing platforms (central, departmental and desktop computers)

Programming Languages

Programming languages currently supported by the campus include: BASIC, C, COBOL, FORTRAN, Lisp, Pascal and PL/I. These languages are used in the curriculum of our Computer and Information Sciences program, as well as by faculty and staff who are developing specialized software. Additional programming language compilers to be acquired and supported include Ada and C++.

Goals:

To acquire programming languages needed by the academic community which will execute across all campus computing platforms (central, departmental and desktop computers)

To obtain programming language compilers needed to support CIS instructional assignments
