[97-98 DC/TM Goals]
Mission:
To provide leadership (strategic planning, development) and technical
support, including maintenance and repair, for all media-related technologies,
issues, services and resources to include, but not necessarily limited to:
audio/visual equipment, video/tele-conferencing facilities, projection systems,
"smart classroom" technologies, SMATV services.
1997-98 Service Goals:
1. Provide and support video conferencing facilities.
2. Support the SUNY Plattsburgh Telenursing program's use of PictureTel
facilities.
3. Support the department's "Info Channel" television channel.
4. Provide and suppport "Smart" classroom facilities.
5. Provide and support Satellite/Master Antenna TV (SMATV) services.
6. Provide TV programming to residence halls and campus.
7. Provide teleconferencing services.
8. Provide sound systems setup (e.g., commencement).
9. Troubleshoot/repair/maintain specialized A/V equipment.
10. Repair non-A/V, seismic and scientific electronic equipment as necessary.
11. Video-tape teleconferences (as requested).
12. Transfer film to videotop for use in classroom instruction.
13. Provide service and support for the desing, maintenance and operation of the
Geology department's seismic network. This includes detailed technical
drawings and written procedures which enable the department to teach the
theory and operation of the network. (as needed)
1997-98 Planning Goals:
1. Develop 98-99 Media Services Team plans and goals (by 6/98)
2. Conduct at least one strategic planning meeting to look at (anticipatory planning)
issues and developments for all our media services (by 6/98)

about/articulate what should we be doing as a department/team to be prepared.]
1997-98 Development Goals:
1. Stay abreast of developments and concerns with media technologies.
2. Develop a campus video-conferencing strategy that describes how our department
could provide employees with videoconferencing services that allow them to
participate in SUNY meetings:
- ascertain what standards we need to meet (by mid-July, 97)
- develop a low-cost strategy and a optimum-service strategy
3. Support projects related to Media Services:
a. Flagg 203 "smart classroom" completed (lectern; mount projector)
b. Carson 101 "smart classroom" completed
c. Stowell 211 projection improved
d. Kellas/Flagg projection (swaps) completed.
e. Satterlee 300 "smart classroom" projection system installed.
