[96-97 DC/TM Goals]Mission:
To provide leadership and technical support, including maintenance and repair, for all media-related technologies, issues, services and resources to include, but not necessarily limited to: audio/visual equipment, video/tele-conferencing facilities, projection systems, "smart classroom" technologies, SMATV services.Departmental priorities
1996-97 Service Goals:
1. Provide and support video conferencing facilities. 2. Support the SUNY Plattsburgh Telenursing program's use of PictureTel facilities. 3. Support the department's "Info Channel" television channel. 4. Provide and suppport "Smart" classroom facilities. 5. Provide and support Satellite/Master Antenna TV (SMATV) services. 6. Provide TV programming to residence halls and campus. 7. Provide teleconferencing services. 8. Provide sound systems setup (e.g., commencement). 9. Troubleshoot/repair/maintain specialized A/V equipment. 10. Repair non-A/V and scientific electronic equipment as necessary. 11. Video-tape teleconferences as requested. 12. Transfer film to videotop for use in classroom instruction. 13. Provide public addressing service for commencement and other events requiring this service.1996-97 Planning Goals:
What we do to understand what is needed (assessment, interviews) and how well we do it. (evaluation) 1. Understand and anticipate the IT service/support needed to succesfully meet the mission of SUNY Potsdam. 2. Conduct ongoing strategic planning (anticipating, assessing needs) for voice/video/data technologies and services. 3. Plan and manage an integrated apprach to the delivery of personal computing, network, telephone and media services to the campus community that is focused upon customer satisfaction. 4. Meet with Student Technology Advisory board to present and discuss plans for improving student services at least once per semester.1996-97 Development Goals:
What is done to determine how to meet customer needs by creating and testing processes and resources for services and support. 1. Stay abreast of new technologies, with particular attention to the digital convergence of voice, video and data technologies. (RJ) 2. Provide timely presentations and training sessions on current and emerging voice/video/data technologies; e.g., Brown-bag technology sharing sessions. (RJ) 3. Provide training and "awareness" opportunities to keep interested information technology users up to date. (ISD) 4. Support and promote our College's technological competitiveness. (RJ) 5. Maintain the College's reputation for excellence in Information Technology making the College more attractive to SUNY resource providers, prospective students and their parents, and potential donors. (ISD) 6. Maintain a presence within SUNY as an active participant in SUNY-wide information technology intiatives. (ISD) 7. Design, or assist in the design, of A/V systesm, and multi-media systems. 8. Support projects related to Media Services: a. Flagg 203 "smart classroom" completed b. Carson 101 "smart classroom" completed c. Kellas 103 "smart classroom" completed d. Crane data projection system installed
