Meeting Minutes - 3/25/97

1. Coverage of network services - holidays, weekends, evenings:
 
   Tabled until 4/8 when Brenda is available.
 
 
2. Coverage of network services while Justin is on vacation:  
 
   1. Bootp addressing - Romeyn
   2. Appleshare - Bob
   3. DEC switches (Kellas, Gigaswitch) - Carm
      * check Justin's notepad logfile on the NT; type "reboot" at the console"
      * call Maurice @ DEC support
      * call Justin
   4. LANRovers - Bob
 
3. NYSERNet Firewall status:
 
   NYSERNet is at step # of the 3 steps to remove the firewall.  Justin will 
   contact Bill Owens to be sure they don't do anything while Justin is out.   
  
 
4. PACES cabling project:
 
   No development since last PACES meeting with the Griffin representative.
   Carm wants to do this project this summer with no promises for connecting 
   vending machines this semester.
 
 
5. Crane cabling project:
 
   Still trying to find the 2' conduit to Snell.  Path for routing cable to 
   Hosmer has been established.
 
 
6. Replacing Chipcom hubs in STowell/Raymond:
 
   Justin wants to stablize the firmware in teh DEC switches before swapping 
   out the equipment.
 
7. DEMPRs:
 
   Carm suggests that we replace the 8 port DEMPRs in our wiring closets with
   8-port switched, manageable hubs.  Justin suggest doing this where student 
   labs share the same lines as faculty/staff offices.
