1. Status Reports:
a. Any Network Services projects pending/waiting? - Meg Bain. Install network faceplate for Alice Reed. - done! - Knowles suites - 1 phone serving 4 students; will activate new phone jackes in student bedrooms to provide a phone for 2 students; this will require us to install at least 1 analog card in the switch. - ordered! - install new phone line for Glen Grigel - done! b. Shiva LANRover status - Justin reported that the Shivas have been reset 6 or so times since our last meeting. - Status of purchase 2 additional LanRover units + 18 modems (16) 28.8 + (2) 14.4: Evaluation of 28.8 Cardinal modems. Purchase additional modems? No, we will wait to see what we can find out from outsourcing. c. Outsourcing our dial-in access and support. - Purpose: To relieve us of dial-in account management, user support, network problems for selected dial-in users or all users. Any information to report? Bob will call ISPs in the area. c. Wiring the "dorms" project. (Bob) - Current status (see Residential Wiring Project Web page) d. Unix hosts - changeover status: will try again on Friday 3/22 (NOTE: The changeover attempt failed again) - status of memory upgrades (purchase requisition?) - ordered! - status of 2Gb drive? Still no word from vendor. e. Security for Kellas Hall - Tim Ashley (Public Safety) report. Next step(s)? Brenda will make extra copies for each team member. We will look at this at our next NST meeting (top of the agenda). f. Network services work-order process. Justin thinks the FileMaker/Web interface project he has been working on will help here. We will address this at the next meeting (4/3). g. SPOTVB: Email list to notify users of 6/30/96. Dave will work on preparing a list of SPOTVB users. He is currently working on moving VB PATHWorks users to SPOTBX (approx. 200)2. New items:
Around the table: Brenda: AT&T will be lowering their rates to us. ACUS now thinks their revenue/costs look very good with their arrangement with our campus. AT&T is working on a proposal to offer LD access for off-campus students, faculty, staff. Jon Martin has retired.
