1. Status Reports:
a. Any Network Services projects pending/waiting? - Meg Bain. Install network faceplate for Alice Reed. - Knowles suites - 1 phone serving 4 students; will activate new phone jackes in student bedrooms to provide a phone for 2 students; this will require us to install at least 1 analog card in the switch. - install new phone line for Glen Grigel - still working on MacVicar. Should be done today (3/5/96) b. Shiva LANRover status - Status of purchase 2 additional LanRover units + 18 modems (16) 28.8 + (2) 14.4: we purchased two (2) 28.8 Cardinal modems @ $169 ea. Will test these units before purchasing additional modems. - Bob suggested investigating the cost of outsourcing our dial-in access and support. This would relieve us of dial-in account management, user support, network problems. c. Wiring the "dorms" project. (Bob) - Current status (see Residential Wiring Project Web page) d. Unix hosts - Changeover report; what is current host status? Dave reported that there was a problem w/ SENDMAIL. That prevented making the changeover. Another attempt will be made this weekend (3/9 -10). Network services work-order process No progress. Justin has expressed interest in working on this project. Around the table: SPOTVB: Dave reminded us that SPOTVB provides PATHWorks services. Bob wants to send SPOTVB users a message soon alerting them to the changes they will be facing 6/30/96. Dave is working on a list of email addresses for all SPOTVB users. Russ Nelson's UNIX Management proposal: Russ has suggested that he could set up an inexpensive Unix (Linux) station to do DNS, bootp, email and network management.
