Pete B. reported that there is not much new from Albany on budget issues. The SUNY Board of Trustees has a meeting on March 17. April 1 is the new State budget deadline date, leaving only several weeks for 'intense negotiating' between the interested parties. Locally, we just have to wait for the new budget to pass. It was noted that Early Retirement Incentive dates have been changed.	On other budget matters: Bob said that he
heard last night that the ETI funds for this year are being released as of today. That is good news, as we have already committed $35K of the expected $56K (for computers in the Carson 'showcase' classroom). Bruce will be talking to a DEC person this afternoon regarding the 4600 (recall we may have a lease bill). Geri needs a little help from account 840823 on a $10K Serials bill; we will cover $4400 from 840823.

Pete B. distributed a letter to the President's Council from Karen O'Brien wherein Admissions is seeking volunteers to help 'stuff' during the direct mail recruitment project this spring. Directors will handle this within their own areas.

Pete B. handed out a heretofore confidential ACT Student Opinion Survey 1994 for us to look over; VP Scott received the survey results in December.

Geri reported on a summer youth program sponsored and funded by the Office of Economic Development, St. Lawrence County. It provides for up to 4 high school students to work for 6 weeks, 30 hours per week, under our Library supervision. It seems to be a worthy program, benefitting all involved. Geri will pursue it further.

There was a discussion about the search for a new AVP/IS and the need to think about the division if the position cannot be filled. Again, everything at this point remains speculative, as the situation is on 'hold' pending the budget.

Geri reported on Ariel problems. That is the document delivery system out of Stanford. Other libraries are experiencing problems with it also. Geri

reported that the OCLC retrospective conversion project is going smoothly. On the CD-Rom Lan project, Geri will ask Keith for a cost projection. That project has a high priority if funds are available.

Bruce has some announcements coming out about Banner and notices of when the Vax will be down. Some of his people will be in San Francisco next week at the TCP meeting.

Pete H. said the Spring SDF final snapshot has been taken. He leaves for TCP/San Francisco on Saturday.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, March 16.
