Last department meeting: 6/12/97 Next meeting: 8/20/97
What has been accomplished since our last meeting? (write items on whiteboard) Summer '97 projects/Fall '97 preparations What could be improved?
97-98 Goals/Planning - performance programs Fall '97 startup/preparations
Consensus decision-making: 1. Each member of the team agrees that the proposal will work (it is not unethical or wrong) 2. It may not be what each member thinks is the best way, but each member agrees it will work. Proposing Dept. Projects - first draft of process: When a project will have an impact across the department, we need a consistent process to follow to understand and evaluate the project's merits. This process is not necessarily intended for team-specific projects; that is, projects handled within a team that does not alter the team's 97-98 goals and priorities. Project proposal questions to be answered: 1. What is the purpose of the project? (What is the problem it addresses?) 2. What are the project's goals and target date for completion? 3. What/who is needed (i.e., resources) to complete the project? 4. What are the benefits/costs of this project? 5. How does the project support department/college goals? 6. How might this poroject impact current department services and goals? Present proposal to Management Team for evaluation/approval. The evaluation should be based upon benefits outweighing costs.
