MEMORANDUM

TO: All SUNY Potsdam Employees

RE: CHRISTMAS EVE THROUGH NEW YEAR'S DAY STAFFING

The College has adopted a policy of "flexible holiday staffing" for
the period December 24, 1996, through January 1, 1997. This policy
was established to allow employees who wish, and whose workload
allows, to use vacation and personal leave (if appropriate) to enjoy
the holidays without having to report to work and allow the college
to save money through energy savings.

  1. Each supervisor will determine the workload of the office
for the period above and establish staffing needs to
      accomplish the work.

  2. This information will be communicated to the employees
within the department. The employees may (in consultation
      with the supervisor):

       a. work as normally scheduled or
       b. use accruals to be absent during the period.

  3. Each supervisor will provide to Human Resources by December
4, 1996, a list of days during this period the office will be
closed. If no information is received by December 4, 1996,
the assumption will be made that the office is open (other
than December 25 and January 1).

  4. Human Resources will summarize the list of office closures
and provide one copy to all departments. The notice will be
posted on the front door of Raymond Hall and at other locations
     throughout the campus.

  5. Supervisors are to have a sign made for the office door
indicating the days the office is closed and are to be sure
that all phones have a message on them indicating the closure.

If anyone has any questions on this policy, please call Kathryn Perry.
