Interview with: Frank McLaughlin, Chair
Sociology Department
Interview date: 4/11/97
Questions:
1. How satisfied you (and your department) are with technology support and
services?
Have heard nothing of dissatisfaction with service or support. Most
problems are speedily resolved. Feel well-supported.
The brown-bag technology sharing sessions are useful.
2. What services and support could be improved?
Need special modem access for Jackie Rush, Pat Turbett and Dave Hanson.
3. Is your department considering any new technology initiatives for the
next year?
The department is working on a computing requirement for the major and
is offering a course entitled, "Computing Applications in the Social
Sciences". This course covers familiarity with technology and applications,
information retrieval, databases and spreadsheets.
Would like to create smart classrooms in Satterlee 310 and 319. It would
be especially helpful to have a visualizer in them.
4. What are your most important concerns and priorities for the next
year?
1) Keep doing what you (DC/TM) are doing.
