History Department
Interview date: 4/11/97
Questions:
1. How satisfied you (and your department) are with technology support and
services?
Generally satisfied with support and service.
2. What services and support could be improved?
Vince Knapp has no way to print except to another departments' (Geology)
printer since the History Department has no printer.
Xiaoyuan's computer needs to be replaced.
Word Perfect for faculty computers needs to be upgraded to the latest
version. Word Perfect is preferred by most publishers.
3. Is your department considering any new technology initiatives for the
next year?
A new faculty member, Margaret Lowe, will be replacing Judith Ranlett and
will need a computer.
Bill Matthews is considering the use of a CD-ROM to supplement the text
for his course.
Need one-on-one tutoring for faculty to learn how to utilize information
technology more effectively. The library is doing this now somewhat.
4. What are your most important concerns and priorities for the next
year?
1) Upgrade old computers.
2) Tutorial approach for educating faculty and students on the use of
information technologies.
