Information Center Team
Mission of the Information Center Team:
To use voice, video and data technologies as a means of:
- meeting our dept. mission of keeping the campus well-informed;
- publishing information, announcements,
for members of our department as well as the campus and the public;
- assisting other teams and departments with the publishing of tips and
documentation on services/resources offered;
- alerting the campus of problems with campus information technologies
and DCTM services.
Goals for Information Center Team (1995-96):
- Answer switchboard
- publish the weekly Campus Activities sheets
- Produce and distribute Student Technology Guide
- Develop InfoChannel layout and overall "look"
- publish current events/announcement on the campus InfoChannel
- Enter daily information into Activities Hotline (x4444)
- Enter data into College/Community Calendar
- Publish and distribute faculty/staff directory
- Publish and distribute student directory
- Update and publish Email At-A-Glance
- Assist other department teams in publishing documentation on
services/resources
- publish public information from our dept. on our campus
WWW/gopher server (describing departmental services/functions)
- improve the look-and-feel of our departmental WWW documents
- Assist with the collection/publishing of HELPDESK questions/answers
- publish information for internal departmental use
- publish *internal* dept. WWW newsletter
- maintain the network services HOTLINE (x2884) as a current source of
information regarding problems with network services.
- Participate in BearFacts team meetings as needed
- Maintain and update Gopher (BearFacts) information
Long-term goals:
- Establish information tree (who gets phoned/emailed in emergencies,
or when info needs to be disseminated in timely fashion)
- Produce and distribute administrative calling guide(policies &
procedures manual)
- Design newsletter/brochures and templates
